MLK Day

As you may have noticed I changed the look of my blog just to make it a little more fun. BTW Happy MLK DAY! Even if it is the day after. He truly is one of the most inspiring people EVER. This winter has been the worst weather we have had in awhile. I don't have school again. Let me know how the weather has been around you. Also feel free to leave me comments.

My Life

Sorry I haven't posted in so long. I have been busy with school and Christmas and just everything. I had an amazing Christmas break. I realized that I never actually said my name it is Kaitlyn Borer. I live in the Midwest. Today was my first day back to school since December 20th. With the weather we have been closed the past three days. At the beginning of the week it got down to about -18 and felt like -40 degrees. It was insane. But even today the way it worked out I only had school an hour. So I got very lucky. I had said in previous post I was excited about going to New York well I did go. I went back in September. It was absolutely amazing. I love New York and would go back in a heartbeat. We even saw the play Jersey Boys. It was spectacular. I didn't think it was going to be that good but it was great. Then over Christmas break I ended up going on a cruise. Which I was surprised that we actually ended up going on the cruise. I figured that my dad would decide that we shouldn't go. But I had a lot of fun. We went to the Caribbean so I had to get tan so I'm really happy about that. Especially since homecoming is in a few days. My family got really lucky that our flight home was on Saturday night the storm which brought ice was Sunday. So a day later and a might just be getting home. Feel free to leave comments I appreciate each and every one. I hope you come back to my blog. Also if there are any Turner events that you know of please let me know. I would love to support them or attend them.

Thank you for your support,

Kaitlyn Borer

Current

I know I haven't posted in a while. I've been busy with school. But today I don't have school where I go for cosmetology. So I thought I would post. I hope you follow me on facebook. I also would love to hear your stories. I feel that i'm so much stronger since I have gotten Turner's. It doesn't have to stop you. You just have to not look at as a victim or why did this happen to me? You have to look to at it like what can I do about this and what good can come from this?

I hope you all have a great day!
Kaitlyn

School

I have now started school. This year I am going for cosmetology part time. I just wanted everyone to know that even if you have Turner's you can still achieve your dreams. I love to hear your stories so feel free to email me at kountry.kouture@yahoo.com. I just hope that my blog shows that even if you have Turner's you are a normal person and can achieve anything. The world is your internet search for what you want. I am living proof of this. It took me a little while to wrap my head around every aspect of Turner's. But once I did I realized that it doesn't make me that much different. It just makes me that much stronger.

Spreading the Message

I hope you all who read this will help me spread my message. I want to make Turner's better known. When I found out I had Turner's I had NOO idea what it was. I have since learned a lot and come to terms with having Turner's Syndrome. I had to go throught several different types of medical treatments. I had to take growth hormone shots and thyroid pills and other pills. I want to help any other girl who needs support going through this experience or any parents.

Facebook

I have now made a facebook page called My life with Turner's Syndrome. So you can get on facebook and like it. I would love to answer your questions or hear your stories you can either comment them or email me at kountry.kouture@yahoo.com  The way I found out I had Turner's is my brother has diabetes so he goes to an endocrinologist and he has always been tall. So my dad made a comment to the doctor about my brother should give me some of his heighth that he was stealing it all. So then the doctor decided to run the test for TS and I found out I had TS. I didn't know that much about Turner's until I was about 13 or 14. LIke the fact that only 3% of people with TS can have kids naturally. I now know a lot more and want to help other people with Turner's.

My life

The title of the blog pretty much sums it up. I have Turner's Syndrome. If you don't know what Turner's is, summed up in a few words it is (according to turnersyndrome.org)  "Turner syndrome (TS) is a chromosomal condition that describes girls and women with common features that are caused by complete or partial absence of the second sex chromosome". I have decided to make a blog to make a support and informational place for people with Turner's. I am just your average person a teenager who is living her everyday life. I was about 10 when I found out that I had Turner's. Since then I have come a long ways. I took growth hormone because at the time I found out, I was only about 4'9 now I am 5'2. It really has helped me. I am still short but pretty average. When I went on growth hormone 5'2 was my goal height. I was on growth hormone until I was about 14. I am now 15 so I have been off of it for a little over a year. I also have Hyperthyroidism. Which if you couldn't tell is a thyroid condition. I have to take pills for that. It is very common in people with Turner's. I have decided to make this blog so others and myself have a support place. Feel free to leave comments with questions and you can email me your story at kountry.kouture@yahoo.com.
